Hasnain Kazim, born in 1974 in Oldenburg, is the son of Indian-Pakistani parents. Unfortunately, it is not surprising that he, as a journalist who writes about sensitive topics in media with a wide reach and has a foreign-sounding name, receives angry mail. But instead of simply clicking away the hateful, often racist or Islamophobic outpourings of "real Germans" such as "Heinz K.", "Maria gegen Scharia", "HermannThe-German" or "Siegfried Drachentöter", Kazim replied quick-wittedly and wittily. Because he did not want to leave the nonsense in his own mailbox uncommented. Again and again, enlightening dialogues resulted from this. With his comments, Kazim gained a large following on social media and became a bestselling author. Today he lives in Vienna and, in addition to books, continues to write for media such as ZEIT, Süddeutsche Zeitung or taz.
