In Italian: Opera completa "Betly" di Gaetano Donizetti

A refined and joyful opera, featuring exquisite harmonic craftsmanship. In Italian. The box office at the Puccini Theatre will be open from 2.30 p.m.

The setting is Switzerland in the mid-19th century. Betly is a young woman who runs her own mountain inn; she cherishes her independence and takes pride in her self-reliance. Consequently, she has no intention of getting married—she certainly doesn't need a man’s "interference"! Daniele is in love with her but doesn't know how to win her heart. The impasse is broken by a prank played on Daniele and the antics of a ragtag group of soldiers led by Betly’s brother, Max, who has returned after a full fifteen years away.
Betly is forced to acknowledge that, in times of trouble, a man’s presence is essential. Daniele is even willing to fight a duel to protect her; moved by this, Betly lowers her defenses and realizes she is in love with him. And so... "love triumphs in the end!"
