Mushrooms of Our Forests – Guided Excursion

Experts from the mycological association ‘Bresadola’ present a variety of South Tyrolean mushroom species and share insights into their unique lifestyles.

On Saturday, 5 September, a guided mushroom excursion will take place with mushroom expert Klaus Köcher from the Bresadola Mycological Association.
Meeting point: Töll Bridge car park at 1:50 p.m.
Duration: until approximately 5:00 p.m.
Participants will explore, identify and discuss the mushroom species found in the area while learning fascinating facts about their way of life, ecological importance and unique characteristics.

On Saturday, 5 September, and Sunday, 6 September, the annual Mushroom Exhibition will be held at Urania Merano, with free admission.
Opening hours:
9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The exhibition is an excellent opportunity to discover the mushrooms of our forests and exchange knowledge with experts. The summer mushroom exhibition is organized by Urania Merano in cooperation with the Bolzano branch of the Bresadola Mycological Association. Last year, 218 mushroom species were presented.
For the third consecutive year, a mushroom identification service will be available. Visitors are invited to bring mushrooms they have collected and have them identified by experts.
On Saturday at 4:00 p.m., Dr. Karl Kob, President of the National Federation of Bresadola Mycological Associations, will give an interesting lecture entitled:
“Edible Mushrooms: Nutrition, Health and Safety”
The lecture will focus on European culinary traditions, flavour, nutritional value, potential risks and proven preventive measures related to edible mushrooms. Dr. Karl Kob will present the most popular edible mushrooms from 27 countries, highlighting their remarkable diversity and differences.
