Sounds of nature, Alpine and Bohemian folk melodies, Klezmer music and heroic tales were the main sources of inspiration for Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, which premiered in Budapest in 1889. This fascinating musical narrative captivates audiences through Mahler’s sophisticated orchestral effects and compelling melodies.
Nino Rota, the Oscar-winning composer and celebrated film music maestro, created a major work of the trombone repertoire with his Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra. South Tyrolean exceptional trombonist Peter Steiner will perform this work, which premiered in Milan—the composer’s hometown—in 1969, together with the Südtirol Filarmonica.
With Rota and Mahler, the audience, soloist and orchestra embark on an inspiring musical journey into the “Power of Imagination.”
