Movie in German language: Speziergang nach Syracus

A trip to Syracuse and back – that is what Paul Gompitz (Charly Hübner) dreams of. He wants to travel to Sicily to follow in the footsteps of the poet Johann Gottlieb Seume. There is just one problem: the year is 1982 and Paul lives in the GDR. After all his attempts to obtain official permission to leave the country have failed, Paul is forced to plan his escape.

Love and the longing for freedom: drawing on a true story, Lars Jessen tells a quiet and moving tale set against the backdrop of the GDR in the 1980s.
