Merano High Mountain Trail - 1st stage: Hochmuth - Giggelberg

General description

On the Merano High Mountain Trail (trail n° 24), the entire Texel Group Nature Park can be circumnavigated in a hiking tour of four to six days. The best time to hike the Merano High Mountain Trail (trail n° 24) is: The northern part is a summer tour, walkable from the end of June to the beginning of October (depending on snow conditions). The southern and eastern sections can often be walked all year round and are suitable for one-day tours. The numerous typical South Tyrolean mountain inns and refuges inviting you to rest and have a snack, the varied world of peaks and the magnificent mountain lake landscape of the Spronserseen lakes make the Merano High Mountain Trail in the Texel Group Nature Park a unique hiking area!

Here you will find the suggestion for the 1st stage on the Merano High Mountain Trail from Hochmuth (Hochmuth - Dorf Tirol/Tirolo cableway station) to Giggelberg (Texelbahn cableway station Partschins/Parcines):

1st STAGE:
Hochmuth – Leiter Alm (ca. 1 h)
Leiter Alm – Hochganghaus (ca. 1,5 h)
Hochganghaus – Nasereit (ca. 2,5 h)
Nasereit – Giggelberg (ca. 1 h)
Time to walk / duration: about 6 h

Distance: 13,4 km
Altitude ascent: 850 m
Altitude descent: 550 m

Park

Texelbahn cableway valley station, Via Ziel, Rabland/Rablà
All-day, in the designated parking area. Campers only between 7.00 a.m. – 7.00 p.m.
The car park at the Partschins cemetery is reserved for cemetery visitors and funerals. We ask you to respect this!

Public transport

From Meran/o: train n° 250 to Rabland/Rablà – and from there bus n° 266 to the Texelbahn cableway valley station.
From Vinschgau valley/Val Venosta: train n° 250 to Rabland/Rablà, and from there bus n° 266 to the Texelbahn cableway valley station.
