Festival VOCES
Under the title VOCES, Conductus presents three events this fall dedicated to the voice, each exploring it from a different perspective.
The series begins on October 16 with *Double Voice*, a concert exploring the relationship between classical composers and folk traditions, starting with the beautiful Irish songs that Beethoven arranged for voice and piano trio. Building on this foundation, the program unfolds through works by De Falla, Satie, and Ravel, culminating in pieces by Nick Drake and Atoms for Peace adapted for this quintessentially classical ensemble. The star of the evening is Petra Magoni, a virtuoso and versatile singer who owes her fame primarily to her work with the extraordinary duo Musica Nuda.
The second event, on November 7 in the magnificent spaces of the Palais Mamming, features Italied, a program entirely dedicated to the Italian song from the Renaissance to the present day. Italy’s unique flair for melody is explored through a journey through the song genre across different eras, whose variety is brought together by a common thread: a specific instrumental accompaniment to the voice—the string quintet. In this case, Marcello Fera—in addition to composing the arrangements—returns to the role of singer after many years.
The third event, on December 4, features the world premiere of "Le voci sbagliate", a stage performance in Italian. A young woman dies in the hospital. She is strapped to the bed—said to be “restrained.” She dies in a fire. A work based on a text by Massimo Cirri and music by Marcello Fera that explores the fragility of our identities, the systems we have established, their inertia, the search for self, torment, and the crossing of boundaries. The clash or harmony between desire and possibility, the conflicts between care and confinement. The piece, for soprano, actress, narrator, and instruments, will feature soprano Nadia Kuprina, actress Aude Lorrillard, and Cirri himself on stage, along with Roberta Gottardi on clarinets, Federica Ragnini on cello, and Marcello Fera on violin.
