25. Internationales Brassfestival Meran/o" R.E.T. BRASS BAND
The R.E.T. Brass Band brings together top brass players who work as professional orchestral musicians and music teachers as well as music students from across Tyrol.
By taking part in national and international competitions, these ambitious musicians aim to continually improve the quality of their work and make a name for themselves on the international stage. Indeed, the ensemble – comprising exclusively Tyroleans – won the first Austrian brass band competition in its very first year, 2014, and went on to represent Austria at European competition level. Andreas Lackner, conductor of the R.E.T. Brass Band, was captivated by the sonic and musical possibilities offered by a brass band. Years later, when the R.E.T. founding members Andreas Lackner, Gerd Bachmann and Thomas Steinbrucker ran a course with ‘El Sistema’ in Venezuela, they were further captivated by the energy with which children and young people performed and made music in an orchestral setting. Soon afterwards, a youth brass band was formed at the Innsbruck Music School. Some of the ‘youngsters’ quickly became very good and, since 2014 and to this day, have been finding new musical challenges in the R.E.T. Brass Band.
