Merano Theatre Festival 2026 – The Silence of the City
World premiere of "The Silence of the City" at the Merano Theatre Festival, performed on the open-air stage above the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.
The Merano Theatre Festival presents the world premiere of "The Silence of the City", a new play by Luis Zagler directed by Torsten Schilling. Performed on the spectacular open-air stage above the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, the production combines breathtaking scenery with outstanding contemporary theatre.
The play explores truth, media influence and social responsibility through a compelling story that blends the elegance of the Belle Époque with issues that resonate strongly today.
Since 2018, the Merano Theatre Festival has become one of the leading open-air festivals for contemporary drama in the Alpine region.
