Concert: Tangomesse Misa a Buenos Aires von Martin Palmeri

The concert, conducted by Martin Künstner, opens with compositions by Astor Piazzolla, Norbert Kotzan, Mariano Mores, and Sebastian Piana. By donation.

*Misa a Buenos Aires* is a musical setting of the Mass by the Argentine composer Martín Palmeri (b. 1965) in the style of *Tango Nuevo*. The text of the Mass consists of the traditional Latin Ordinary. Here, Palmeri blends sacred elements with stylistic hallmarks typical of *Tango Argentino*. In addition to piano and string instruments, the performance features the bandoneon—a quintessential instrument of *Tango Nuevo*—played by Norbert Kotzan, alongside a mezzo-soprano soloist (Mirjam Kapelari) and a mixed choir.

The KonzertChorReutlingen is the resident choir of the *Betzinger Sängerschaft 1837 e.V.* and has been under the direction of Martin Künstner since 1994. The choir’s wide-ranging repertoire encompasses musicals, operettas, operas, oratorios, and masses, as well as other classical and modern works.
