From 7 to 9 May, the long-standing Merano Poetry Prize will take place once again. Founded in 1993 by Alfred Gruber, it is now one of the most important poetry competitions in the German-speaking world. This year, for the first time, it will be held at the Palais Mamming and will once again bring together nine poets who have been invited to the final in Merano. There, they will recite their submitted poems to an audience and a five-member jury, who will discuss them and ultimately announce the winners. It is precisely this professional discussion of contemporary poetry that lies at the heart of and constitutes the appeal of the Merano Poetry Days.
