Passeiertal cycle path

General description

This is a long but easy tour, with little difference in altitude, which leads mostly along gravel roads through the Passeiertal valley and into the main town of St. Leonhard.

Route description

At the Post Bridge (on the eastern edge of the town centre), follow the bike path signage through Elisabeth Park (by the marble statue). The promenade is shared by pedestrians and cyclists.

Just before the Roman Bridge, turn right uphill through a few serpentines, then immediately left up a steep section. At the edge of town, ride under the main road into the Passeier Valley.

After the underpass, turn left onto the cycle path and continue until you reach the Passer River. Ride along the orographic left side of the river, cross the Passer via a modern steel bridge, and continue straight ahead, past the Riffian football field, until you reach the bridge below the valley station of the Hirzer cable car.

After the bridge, turn right, passing the campsite. Further on, ride past the large Quellenhof resort, continue to St. Martin, and finally arrive in St. Leonhard. The entire route is well signposted.

Description to arrive at destination

Drive to Merano. There are many paid parking lots in the area. Free parking is available at the Praderplatz across from the train station.
