Hospital Merano

Merano Hospital is a public hospital serving the western region of South Tyrol. It is named after Dr. Franz Tappeiner, a physician who played a key role in developing Merano into a major spa town in the 19th century.

The current hospital complex was planned starting in the 1970s and officially opened in 1996. It replaced and expanded the earlier hospital buildings. Emergency care, surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, and specialized outpatient clinics are just some of the hospital's many medical services.

As part of the South Tyrolean public health system, it treats both locals and tourists who require medical assistance during their stay. Beyond its medical function, the hospital reflects the city's long tradition as a center of health and well-being and continues to care for thousands of patients from across western South Tyrol each year.

From the Merano train station, you can reach the hospital using bus lines 6, 210, and 213. Get off at the "Merano Ospedale Vecchio" stop; from there, it's a three-minute walk. Follow Via San Francesco to the first intersection, then turn left onto Via Giacomo Rossini. The hospital is located there.

From the Merano train station, the hospital is a 4-minute drive away. From the roundabout in front of the station, take Via Andreas Hofer and continue straight to the next roundabout. There, onto Via S. Francesco and take the first left. You will now be on Via Giacomo Rossini, where the hospital is located.

In front of the hospital there are parking spaces along the street, including reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities.
