Wayside Shrine in St. Kathrein

Late Gothic wayside shrine located below the church of St. Catherine at the Forcella, featuring frescoes dating back to the early 15th century. In the round-arched niche, a Crucifixion scene is depicted; on the barrel vault, Christ with the symbols of the Evangelists, and on each side three saints. On the front wall, two angels hold the vernicle

Description to arrive at destination
By public transport:
- Bus no. 225 - bus stop "Tankstelle Hafling", on foot to St. Kathrein (hiking trail no. 14, approx. 20 minutes).

By car:
- From Meran in direction of Hafling. Shortly before reaching the village, turn left towards St. Kathrein.
- From Bozen via Terlan to Vöran and Hafling and continue towards Meran. After the small tunnel (after the petrol Station), turn right towards St. Kathrein.

Little parking place in front of the hotel Sulfner.

Author's tip

From the parking place LeNoir above "Grüner Baum" and Restaurant das Stübele you can reach the small church via the "Familien-Besinnungsweg" (approx. 30 minutes walk).
