Urania Merano
Urania Merano is an educational and cultural center that promotes lifelong learning through courses, lectures, cultural events and social projects.
Founded in 1923, the Urania Merano Education and Cultural Center is one of the oldest adult education institutions in South Tyrol. Driven by the idea of making knowledge accessible to a wider audience, it originally offered lectures, courses, exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events. After a hiatus in the 1930s, its activities resumed after World War II and have been continuously expanded.
Today, the center offers a wide range of courses and events in areas such as languages, culture, society, health, professional development, and creative activities. With its educational programs and cultural projects, Urania Meran continues to make a significant contribution to promoting lifelong learning and civic engagement in the region.
Urania Merano is located in its own building at Via Ortwein 6.
Public transport
At Merano train station take either the bus no. 1 or bus no. 4 and get off at the Elisabeth Park stop at via Cavour. From there it is a five-minute walk to via Ortwein.
Description to arrive at destination
Urania is easy to reach from the city center: it takes about 5 minutes on foot. By bike, follow the bike path past the Merano Thermal Baths, then turn left onto via Ortwein. The path is shared by pedestrians and cyclists, please be considerate of others.
Parking
There are reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities in the Therme car park.
You will find bicycle parking spaces at the entrance. Take care not to park bicycles and e-scooters carelessly. They can pose a danger to blind and visually impaired people as they create obstacles to safely walking along paths and finding entrances. People in wheelchairs and parents with pushchairs can also be hindered by carelessly parked bicycles. Please use the bicycle parking spaces provided.
