Josef Valentin Haller Monument

The statue of Josef Valentin Haller is a monument in honor of the mayor who transformed Merano from a small town into a renowned tourist destination.

The statue in the Wandelhalle arcade along the Winter Promenade was erected in memory of Merano mayor Josef Haller. It was during Haller’s long tenure, from 1826 to 1861, that the city achieved its status as City of Cures (1836).
