Art at the Gampen roundabout: Hannes Egger’s installation presents Lana as a place of connections.

The metal installation at the “Gampen” roundabout was created by Lana artist Hannes Egger. The artwork explores the shape of the municipality of Lana and the main traffic routes that have long shaped and connected the village.

Its pink and white colours are inspired by the façades in the surrounding area, especially that of St. John Nepomuk Church. The wreath around the figure mirrors the circular form of the roundabout and also refers to the Madonna of the Rosary inside the church.

Several of Lana’s routes and cultural references can be read in the figure: the left leg symbolises the course of the Falschauer stream, while the left arm stands for the Falschauer bridge and its connections towards Ultental valley and Merano. The right arm represents the road over the Gampen Pass, with a wagon wheel referencing St. Margaret’s Church. The right leg shows the Schnatterpeck altar and points south.

With its rotating effect, the installation invites viewers to see Lana as a place of movement and orientation – a junction where roads, stories and directions come together.
