Elisabeth and Daniel Hofer

The farmer's wife, Elisabeth Hofer and her son, Daniel, guide visitors through the exciting, 700-year history of Niedereben Farm. The family pours its heart and soul into tending its organic farm, which is distinguished not only by the first-class quality of its home-grown fruit and vegetable varieties, but is also known for its excellent sausages and fine speck bacon. Herbert Hofer, the farmer, long held the ambition to produce his own olive oil. Today over 300 olive trees flourish at the heart of the idyllic landscape studded also with cacti. Two years ago the first oil was finally pressed.

Then, as today, the Niedereben Farm maxim was “quality before quantity, and in harmony with the nature of plants and animals.”
