A dream hike from Zannes: pass the Odle north faces up to Sobutsch peak (2486m), then unwind at the scenic Genova refuge amidst the Dolomites.
Across the Medalges Meadows along the Dolomites High Route No. 2
We head into the Funes Valley (Val di Funes) to the Zannes Alpine Pasture (Alpe di Zannes, 1,685 m), the starting point of our hike. Following the Tschantschenonbach stream – with a splendid view of the north faces of the majestic Odle peaks (Furchetta, Sass Rigais, Torri di Fermeda, etc.) – we ascend to the Tschantschenon alpine hut. Following well-marked switchbacks, we reach the Kreuzkofel Pass (Passo di Furcia) at around 2,300 m. Along the Dolomites High Route No. 2 (Alta Via n. 2) and across the Medalges meadows, accompanied by a magnificent panorama of the Dolomites, we climb to the summit of the Sobutsch (2,486 m). After a short break at the peak, we reach the Bronsoi Pass (Passo di Bronsoi, 2,400 m) and descend directly to the Genova refuge (Schlüterhütte, 2,300 m) for a rest. After stopping at the mountain hut, the descent leads us through beautiful scenery back to Zannes, our starting point.
