Summer evenings - Von Fern und Ferner in german
Event in German language. No booking is required, limited places. By donation.
The series of events draws on the cosmopolitan origins of the Fromm family of collectors, but not exclusively so: beyond the family history, it also focuses on life in Merano at that time, from 1905 onwards. It was in that year that the family first chose Merano as a health resort; they were integrated into social life and played an active role in shaping it. This year, the focus is on the following themes: sacramental wine, music, architecture and literature.
Le suite per viola di Max Reger
Luca Sanzò (Roma) - viola
Stephan Kofler, Ferruccio delle Cave
During the 1914–15 biennium, the Bavarian composer Max Reger dedicated four sets of chamber music works to the genius of J. S. Bach under the opus number 131; two were composed during his stay at the Martinsbrunn Clinic in Merano (Op. 131a/b) and the others were completed immediately afterwards, upon his return to Jena. The convalescent stay in Merano in the spring of 1914 was thus a source of inspiration for Reger to compose sophisticated, absolute music. The three viola suites bear witness to this: the very form of the suite is reminiscent of the great Baroque masters, as is the choice of musical language, the keys, the individual movements and the polyphonic style.
In collaboration with the Max Reger Society of Merano.
