Hike with guides and musicians from Schneebergbrücke bridge to Schneeberg. At 12:00 p.m. concert "Brazilian Motions" with Matthias Schriefl at Schneeberg
At the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige, soloists and ensembles do not only venture into dizzying musical "heights". With their instruments in tow, they also climb real mountains, performing in a breathtaking alpine landscape. The concert at Schneeberg becomes a symbolic encounter across geographical, natural and social boundaries. While one group of spectators ascends from the Lazzach valley side via the Schneebergscharte pass to the miners’ village on the Schneeberg, the other group sets off from the Passeiertal side and hikes via Seemoos to St. Martin. With "Brazilian Motions", the free spirit from Allgäu Matthias Schriefl sends his ensemble on a star-shaped hike through South Tyrol’s vertical landscape. Brazilian idioms such as choro and baião enter the mountain world as the musicians, divided into two groups and accompanied by the audience, ascend from different sides. Only at the summit do they merge in a collective high-altitude rush. At the heart of the piece are texts by Patricia Cruz about "Maria" as a symbol of the divine feminine, forming the basis for a creative interplay between intimate introspection and eruptive virtuosity.
