Mining history at the Schneeberg

Special guided tour with Armin Torggler

This special guided tour combines natural and cultural landscapes with the eventful history of mining on the Schneeberg. During the hike from Passeier via Seemoos up to St. Martin am Schneeberg, participants learn more about centuries of ore extraction, life in Europe’s highest miners’ village, and everyday life in a remote mining settlement at an altitude of 2,355 meters.

The guided tour will be in German and Italian.

Approach

Access is via the SS44 into the Passeiertal Valley to Moso and then continuing on the SS44bis towards the Timmelsjoch.
Starting points of the hike to the Refuge Schneeberg :
• Schneebergbrücke bridge
• Platterköfel
• Timmelsbrücke bridge

Parking is available directly at the respective starting points.

To bring along

We recommend robust shoes and rain gear. 

Additional info

The visit to the Himmelreich gallery is not suitable for people with claustrophobia. You may wait outside the gallery during this part of the tour.
