Strauben are a beloved sweet speciality made with simple ingredients: 250 g flour, 250 ml milk, 3 eggs, 30 g melted butter, 1 tbsp sugar, a pinch of salt and a little rum. Chestnuts have been part of South Tyrolean culture for centuries. 🌰
The region’s mild climate and sunny slopes provide ideal conditions for chestnut trees. In autumn, the ripe chestnuts fall to the ground, where they are collected and processed. Traditionally, they are roasted over an open fire during “Törggelen” and enjoyed together with young wine and regional specialities.
