La région de Merano/Meran au cœur du Sudtirol possède un riche héritage culturel et dispose d’un grand programme d’évènements, d’art et de culture. En plus d’un grand patrimoine culturel avec des châteaux, églises et autres monuments, il existe des établissements innovants comme le musée de plein-air archeopark Schnalstal, où la vie du temps de la momie des glaces Ötzi se laisse découvrir de manière interactive.

À Merano et dans les environs, on peut voir de nombreux monuments historiques, ainsi que des hôtels, téléphériques et bâtiments contemporains internationalement renommés. À côté des musées historiques, se côtoient galeries et musées contemporains.
