Directions

If road conditions allow, you can drive as far as the Rappenhöfe farmsteads. Otherwise, start your ski tour at the car park in Magdfeld.

From the Rappenhöfe farmsteads, follow a wide farm track on a long ascent to Valser Alm Alp. Pass the hut and climb a somewhat steeper slope until you reach a shepherd’s hut. Behind the hut, another slope leads you into a broad hollow. From here, keep to the left and climb along the summit ridge to Schwarzkopf peak.

For the descent, follow more or less the same line as on the ascent.

Recommended equipment

Carry the necessary safety equipment, including an avalanche transceiver, avalanche shovel and probe. Depending on the route and conditions, a helmet, ski crampons and additional equipment may also be required.

Wear warm, weather-appropriate clothing and suitable ski touring equipment. Take sufficient water and food with you and plan your tour so that you return in good time, preferably before nightfall.

Arrival by car

• Coming from Meran towards the Passeiertal Valley, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to St. Martin. Approx. 1 km before St. Martin follow the left mountain road to Magdfeld. After the Magdfeld inn, continue into the valley until you reach the parking lot at Rappenhöfe farm

• Coming from the Jaufenpass towards Meran, take the Jaufenstraße SS44 to St. Martin. Approx. 1 km after St. Martin follow the left mountain road to Magdfeld. After the Magdfeld inn, continue into the valley until you reach the parking lot at Rappenhöfe farm

• Coming from the Timmelsjoch towards Moos, continue on the Timmelsjochstraße towards St. Leonhard on the same road, then continue towards Meran on the Jaufenstaße SS44 to St.Martin. Approx. 1 km after St. Martin follow the left mountain road to Magdfeld. After the Magdfeld inn, continue into the valley until you reach the parking lot at Rappenhöfe farm

Parking is available in Magdfeld or at the parking lot at the Rappenhöfe farmstead after Magdfeld.
