The picturesque winter hike along the Schenner Waal follows a natural trail through the quiet, wintry chestnut groves and orchards high above the spa town of Merano. Even on sunny winter days, the hike offers a unique nature experience with clear air and magnificent views.
The hike starts in the center of Schenna. Passing the tourist office, you walk up Schlossweg until the junction with Verdinser Straße. Follow this road until the turn-off to Ifinger Straße and follow hiking trail no. 20, which is somewhat steep, up to the valley station of the Taser cable car. Below the valley station, the Schenner Waalweg branches off to the right. Heading south, you reach the "Katzenleiter" and the Café am Waal. Following the watercourse, you arrive in St. Georgen, from where you take the meadow path before the church and then return to Schenna via St. Georgener Straße.If you prefer to skip the climb to the Waalweg, you can alternatively take bus line 233 from Schenna village to the valley station of the Taser cable car.
