Geocaching on the Tschögglberg Plateau

Thrilling treasure hunts in Avelengo – Verano – Merano 2000 in South Tyrol

Above the villages of Avelengo/Hafling and Verano/Vöran, the majestic Tschögglberg plateau/Altipiano del Salto in South Tyrol is criss-crossed by a dense trail network also suited to families with children. Treasure-hunting while exploring the forests and meadows generates even more excitement. Geocaching combines physical movement with the thrill of a treasure-hunt (a Geocache). The treasure could be hidden anywhere: even behind a tree or under a stone.

The cache container holds a logbook that participants need to sign. The whereabouts of cache locations is provided digitally or in analogue form.

The Nature Tour Trip leads to eight important points on the Tschögglberg plateau including the Beimsteinknott natural monument in Verano and the romantic St. Kathrein Church in Avelengo. Those who manage to discover all the caches should present themselves at the local Tourist Association Office to collect their reward.

We will guide you to eight especially beautiful and powerful natural places in our region all of which are marked and numbered on the map. There is an appropriate clue for each place. You need to find a wooden template with a picture on it and then copy it into the correct space on your sheet.

Once every location has been visited and all of the images found and correctly entered on the map, the map can be handed in to one of the tourist information offices in Avelengo, Meltina or San Genesio.

The map is available at the Tourist Offices in Avelengo, Meltina an San Genesio or from your host.
The treasure hunt can also be done by geocaching.
