On February 28, 2010, the old cable car completed its last trip between Falzeben to the
Meran 2000 recreation area after over 40 years of operation. In a record time of only ten months, the
new Meran 2000 Cable Car was constructed.
The spectacular cable car,
designed by the South Tyrolean architect Roland Baldi, has been honored with several
architectural awards. It conveys 120 people per cabin directly to the Meran 2000 ski and hiking area in seven minutes. As a result, there is a lack of waiting time for the slopes even during high season. The cable car is easily accessible for people with disabilities.
