Huts & mountain pastures in Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000

Alpine huts and mountain inns on the high plateau above Meran: long-standing tradition with special charm and regional dishes.

In the hiking area of Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000, above the spa town of Merano, there are numerous huts and alpine pastures on Meran 2000, mountain inns in Vöran and Hafling that are easily accessible for the whole family. After a hike, they are the ideal place to sit on a sunny terrace and admire the surrounding mountains while enjoying a traditional South Tyrolean „Marende“ with bacon, cheese and bread or the popular Tschögglberg plate with cheese and spinach dumplings. Home-style and regional dishes of South Tyrolean cuisine can be found on every menu, reflecting the traditional character and regional culinary preferences. However, some innkeepers also surprise with a refined, culinary offer and upscale gastronomy. In addition, many huts and alpine pastures in Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000 also offer the opportunity to buy local products directly on site and to experience the unique culture and way of life of the region at first hand.

Tradition of the mountain pastures and their animals
The alpine pastures at Merano 2000, Hafling and Vöran are mostly privately owned and are unique places with a rich history and long tradition, surrounded by breathtaking nature. They have been an important part of the local culture and economy for centuries. Because of their rustic, rural architecture, consisting of wood and natural stone, they also radiate charm and convey a feeling of originality and down-to-earthness, which is also characterised by the hospitality of the innkeepers. From mid-May, the farmers traditionally bring their cattle to the alpine pastures - first the cattle, then one or two weeks later the Haflinger horses. The animals spend their summer holidays there until the end of September, feeding on fresh grass and juicy herbs and enjoying the healthy mountain air - side by side with the hikers, who sometimes head for the summit at an early hour to enjoy the unique mountain panorama in the light of the rising sun.
