Extensive tests have shown that the wool from Schnalstal Valley sheep is better than New Zealand wool, for example, in terms of warmth and temperature balance. The Schnalstal sheep, a distinct and rare breed, are internationally known due to the traditional Transhumance over the main ridge of the Alps. Now, only their wool is used to produce the puristically styled felt slipper ipotsch, which guarantees pleasantly warm feet in every season thanks to its temperature-balancing properties. This sustainable project has already been awarded a public prize by the SMG (South Tyrolean Marketing company).
The ipotsch is available at your host, in retail shops or in the office of the tourism board in Certosa.
