Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau in Schnalstal Valley

One of the oldest pilgrimage sites in South Tyrol

Nestled among fields and forests lies Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau, the largest town of the Schnalstal Valley.

The oldest pilgrimage church in Tyrol is located here, around which extends the picturesque village. The parish church dates back to the year 1306, going back to the finding of a small statue of the Virgin Mary. On church holidays, the residents carry the shrine image in procession through Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau. The Marienwallfahrtsweg pilgrimage route and the Weg der Stille trail go through the pristine landscape.

Not far from the church is the Schnalstal Valley archeoParc. This active museum, with its extensive outdoor areas, recreates the living space of the famous ice mummy Oetzi – including Neolithic huts, ovens, cornfields and gardens with wild plants.
