Women in western societies spend less time cooking than before. The demands of work-life and a more flexible sharing of tasks and responsibilities between men and women have entailed wide-ranging changes in time management and lifestyle.
Cooking has become both simpler and more complicated: different nutrition methods, health issues, gender-related body images, the consumption of meat versus animal rights, the situation in agriculture, the global versus the local. Moral responsibility has become an important factor determining our eating and shopping habits. The exhibition focuses on these altered individual and collective parameters. It tells the stories of women from different countries, who give special attention to cooking and eating, to sharing and communal approaches, thus giving their individual actions a collective meaning.
