To the Sulfner Pond

The pond Sulfner Weiher in Hafling is at its loveliest in summer. White water lilies cover the pond while yellow irises, floating water plantains, marsh horsetails, bulrushes, bur-reed, and a host of other plants thrive at the shoreline.

Directions

From the Nusser parking lot in Hafling, the trail first runs a short distance along the road towards Falzeben. Passing the Hotel Viktoria, it continues to the left towards St. Kathrein, following the signs for trail no. 11A. Soon you’ll reach the idyllically situated Sulfner Weiher Pond, which impresses with its unique flora and fauna.

From the pond, trail no. 11A leads slightly downhill, past the Sulfner Riding Stables, to St. Kathrein. There, a beautiful view of Meran and the surrounding mountains opens up. The trail then returns to the starting point via the closed paved road.

Tip: Along the Sulfner Weiher, information boards provide details about the local flora and fauna.

Parking

Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran - Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling. Shortly before Hafling Dorf turn left towards Falzeben. Pass the information office and you will find the small parking place "Nusser" after about 100 metres on the right-hand side of the road.

Public transport

With the bus until the bus stop Parkplatz Nusser:

  • Bus no. 225 Meran - Hafling - Falzeben
  • Bus no. 204 Hafling - Vöran - Mölten - Terlan - Bozen (until Hafling Dorf, than change to busline no. 225)
