Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000: Getting to Know the Territory and its Inhabitants

South Tyrol: land of culture and hospitality

Hafling/Avelengo and Vöran/Verano on the Tschögglberg plateau are picture postcard Alpine villages, with geraniums adding a splash of colour to the neat wooden balconies. Traditional old inns and historic farmsteads with rustic outbuildings are dotted about the green landscape. The Meran 2000 skiing and hiking area is located on the plateau a bit higher up.

The plateau sits above the spa town of Meran/Merano with its great weather conditions and spectacular 360° views. When encountering someone on a path, it’s fine to stop for a chat. Along the paths and trails, children marvel at the cows, goats and Haflinger horses grazing in the meadows. These docile farm animals take their name from the village of Hafling.

If you have other things to do, then go downtown. Nearby Merano has an efficient and well-connected public transport system. Consult the Merano Magazine to find out about local events and exhibitions taking place in the spa town.
