Holy Sepulchre of St Peter Lana | open all day

Holy Sepulchre of St. Peter from 28.03.-07.04.2024 in the church of St. Peter Lana, 9.00-19.00.

Thanks to the diligent help of volunteers, members of the St. Peter's Committee and neighbours, the baroque Holy Sepulchre from 1770 can be seen again this year in St. Peter's Church in Mitterlana after a break of several years due to the pandemic. This tomb, which is attributed to the painter Kassian Pockstaller and is one of the largest in the country, has been rebuilt since 1986. This Holy Sepulchre in Lana fills the entire chancel from the presbytery to the high altar, is illuminated by a total of 77 colourful glass spheres in yellow, red, green, blue and violet and commemorates the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many believers appreciate this tradition of heartfelt devotion during Holy Week and Easter Week and therefore take the opportunity to linger and pray in front of the Holy Sepulchre. In Lana this year, the Holy Sepulchre is once again accessible from Maundy Thursday up to and including White Sunday, 7th April. A description of the tomb, written by Albert Innerhofer, is available in the church for anyone who is interested.
