Easily accessible by cable car from Lana, this car-free mountain offers opportunities for leisurely snowshoe walks and more challenging tours when snow conditions allow.
For a relaxed outing, the trails around St. Vigilius Church and Gasthaus Jocher are ideal. Walking through open woodland and across snow-covered meadows, you can explore the peaceful winter landscape at your own pace.
Experienced snowshoers can venture on longer tours towards the Naturnser Alm mountain pasture. From the chairlift's upper station, marked hiking trails lead through forests and across scenic mountain terrain. The choice of route depends on current snow, weather and trail conditions.
If you don't have your own equipment, snowshoes can be rented at the lower station of the Mount Vigiljoch cable car in Lana. Before setting off, it's advisable to check current conditions and the avalanche risk.
Snowshoeing in the Surrounding Area
The four other ski areas near Lana also offer excellent opportunities for snowshoeing. Schwemmalm and Meran 2000 feature woodland trails, while Pfelders/Plan and the Schnalstal/Val Senales Glacier offer routes at higher elevations. Away from the ski resorts, snowshoeing tours also follow marked trails into the mountains and towards the summits. One example is Mount Laugen/Monte Luco near the Gampenpass/Passo Palade, known for its magnificent panoramic views.
