The Tourist Information Center should be a visitor’s first stop when arriving in town. It caters for visitor’s needs in two ways: by sending them information before their stay in Merano/Meran, and by providing assistance to them during their vacation. The services the Tourist Information Center performs include accommodation bookings, the provision of a wide range of printed materials (e.g. brochures, leaflets, flyers) and the sale of advantage cards for the public transport system. Moreover, the Tourist Information Center receives and investigates complaints filed by tourists. It supports the local accommodation sector by making free promotional materials available to the member hotels of the Merano Tourist Office and by informing their owners about important events via a weekly newsletter dispatch.
