Of its numerous outdoor markets, the Merano/Meran Friday market that stretches from Meinhardstraße street to Praderplatz square is the biggest and best known. There are also flower markets, flea markets, the late summer enjoyment market and farmers' markets selling regional products all year round.





Merano’s open-air markets


Dating from the Middle Ages, Merano’s outdoor markets have long made an important contribution to its local economy and still today continue to play a vital role. Stretching from Praderplatz square to Meinhardstraße street, the stands at the bustling Friday market as well as those at the smaller Tuesday market showcase local delicacies, fresh farm produce and items of locally made clothing. Open from mid-March to mid-October (9 am – 1 pm), the Merano Market in the upper Freiheitsstraße fstreet ocuses on South Tyrolean specialities, natural products and handicrafts.
