Book presentation „Wilde Jahre. Tourismus in Südtirol 1961-1983“
Paul Rösch and Patrick Rina, together with contemporary witnesses Hermann Schnitzer and Marlene Messner, discuss the eventful decades of tourism. In germn language.
The book “Wilde Jahre. Tourismus in Südtirol von 1961–1983” marks the conclusion of the research project on the development of tourism in South Tyrol between 1961 and 1983, launched in 2023 by the South Tyrolean Provincial Museum of Tourism – Touriseum. From the 1960s onwards, South Tyrol developed into a testing ground for tourism: within just a few years, agriculturally shaped structures gave way to a dynamic landscape of leisure and experiences—accompanied by economic growth, but also by speculative developments that reached their peak in the early 1980s. The publication vividly traces this transformation and highlights both the tourism “economic miracle” and its darker sides.
The event is public and free of charge.
Only in German.
Approach
From the train station, the most convenient option is to board one of the city lines (1B or 4) to reach the "Trauttmansdorff" stop.
