In South Tyrol, traditional crafts are still practiced and are often passed down from generation to generation, especially in rural areas. These skills include carving, bobbin lace, felting, and hand weaving.
Skilled hands in South Tyrol use wood, glass, felt, and wool to create not only tools, clothing, jewellery, and decorative objects, but also true masterpieces of craftsmanship. Some of these items are produced on-site at the Merano Christmas Market, where visitors can observe the creative process up close in the “Living Handicrafts Room” on the Kurpromenade.
