The Merano Christmas Market for children
“Goldy” is the mascot of the Merano Christmas Market and welcomes kids to its hut at Piazza della Rena (located amidst the Historic Christmas Village). It also invites children from age three to six to take part in the “Mini Club’s” program, and the slightly older ones (up to age 11) to join in at the “Junior Club”. Besides singing, dancing and many other fun-filled things to do, the program also offers joint activities for parents and kids.

At the Kurhaus, the participants learn to create Christmas decoration and to make Christmas cookies. They also find out interesting facts about the advent calendar, which is used to count the days until Christmas and to point out customs like the parade on St. Nicholas Day.

On December 8, Merano’s patron saint roams the streets and rewards well-behaved children, while the diabolical Krampus fiends use the parade to scare and punish naughty kids.

There is also plenty of fun to be had at the ice-skating rink at Piazza Terme. Skates can be rented onsite, ensuring carefree fun on the festively adorned square.
