Holidays in Naturns & Plaus

Two places, one feeling: pure relaxation in Naturns and Plaus

Naturns is nestled between the small village of Plaus and the charming districts of Tabland, Tschirland, and Staben, which mark the gateway to the Vinschgau Valley. With around 5,500 inhabitants, Naturns is one of the most important communities in the valley and is located just 13 kilometers west of Merano, at a pleasant altitude of 554 meters.

Those spending their holidays in Naturns are spoilt for choice: from stylish 5 and 4-star hotels with wellness facilities to cosy, family-run bed & breakfasts, private holiday apartments, and authentic farm stays – there’s something to suit every taste and preference.

Whether active, relaxed or with the whole family – here, everyone finds their perfect holiday home.

The Alpine Cattle Drive is one of South Tyrol’s most beloved autumn traditions. 🐮⛰
After spending the summer months on the high alpine pastures, cattle are decorated with flowers, bells and traditional ornaments before their return to the valley. This special moment marks the end of the grazing season and is celebrated with music, local delicacies and village festivals, reflecting the deep connection between agriculture, culture and mountain life.

A family weekend at Merano 2000 offers plenty to discover. Enjoy easy walks through the mountain landscape, take a ride on the Alpin Bob, stop for traditional food at one of the mountain huts and take in the panoramic views along the way. You might even spot some Haflinger horses during your day in the mountains.⛰🎢

Mountain farming has shaped South Tyrol’s landscape for generations. Especially on steep meadows, haymaking requires skill, hard work and close knowledge of the land. While modern machinery makes some tasks easier today, many steps still rely on careful manual work, keeping an important part of rural life and tradition alive.🌾
