Sustainability: surveillance audit passed

Sustainability: surveillance audit passed

At the beginning of February 2026, the three-day surveillance audit regarding the GSTC sustainability certification for Tschögglberg high plateau took place, and we are delighted to have reached this important milestone.

Travellers are increasingly choosing sustainable destinations because they want to travel more consciously and responsibly. Recognized certifications provide orientation and trust, showing that a destination meets international quality and sustainability standards. For many guests this means knowing that nature is protected, resources are used responsibly and local communities are involved and supported. Choosing a sustainable destination therefore allows visitors to enjoy an authentic travel experience while also contributing positively to the place they visit. We believe in sustainability, that's why we want to make it visible through the GSTC certification.

The auditor from the GSTC accredited certification body Vireo traveled throughout the entire Tschögglberg high plateau, meeting with businesses, associations, and representatives of the municipalities to gain an authentic picture of the destination. In addition, all submitted documents were reviewed over two days in order to comprehensively evaluate the progress made since the initial certification.

With the audit now complete, we are looking ahead to planning the next steps in 2026.

Tschögglberg: a scenic highlight and ethymological puzzle
The term Tschögglberg is often used in connection with the villages of Hafling and Vöran, but also Mölten and Jenesien. That is one thing. On the other hand, people are sometimes referred to as “Tschöggl”, which is not exactly a compliment, as it refers to clumsy hillbillies. We investigated what the Tschögglberg is and what the difference is between a Tschöggl and a Tschögglberger.

Two generations in harmony with nature
Erika and Elisabeth are mother and daughter. Together with their family they run the Eichernhof in Vöran. A beautiful farm a little below the village, surrounded by meadows and forests. With young cattle, chickens, fruit trees, bees, an old mill and a large garden where fresh vegetables, fruits and all kinds of herbs thrive. Almost everything that is served here is grown and produced by hand.
