Creative drawing competition featuring St. Kathrein church in Hafling

The Romanesque St. Kathrein church in Hafling is one of the most important cultural treasures of the Hafling Vöran Meran 2000 holiday region. This historic landmark has shaped the landscape for centuries. With its Romanesque architecture, fascinating history and impressive views of Meran and the surrounding mountains, Sts Kathrein is a unique place where culture and nature come together.

As a partner site of the Alpine Road of the Romanesque Art, St Kathrein Church is now the inspiration for an international drawing competition for children and young people aged 6 to 15. Young artists are invited to create their own personal interpretation of this special landmark.

Coloured pencils, watercolours, markers or any other creative technique can be used. The church can be drawn realistically, colourfully, playfully or with unlimited imagination. Every artwork tells its own story and reflects an individual view of this historic place.

One winning artwork will be selected from each participating destination along the Alpine Road of the Romanesque Art. The selected drawings will become part of a special postcard collection featuring 34 motifs, which will be published from 2027 onwards.

The project encourages children and young people to explore the cultural heritage of the Alpine region through creativity and to discover historic buildings from a new perspective.

Are you between 6 and 15 years old and do you enjoy drawing? Then take part! You can collect the drawing template of St. Kathrein church at the Hafling-Vöran-Meran 2000 Tourist Office. Your artwork could soon become a postcard and share your personal view of this special place with people far beyond the region.
All entries must be submitted by 16 October 2026.
