The 12,000 m² Gargazon Natural Swimming Pool opened in 2010. It is the first public swimming pool in the western part of South Tyrol to operate entirely without chemical water treatment. The natural swimming pool is divided into a bathing area and a planted regeneration area, where aquatic plants and microorganisms contribute to the biological purification of the water.
Solar collectors are used to heat the shower water. The natural swimming pool can also be reached via walking and cycling paths.
Children can enjoy a naturally designed stream and a paddling pool. The non-swimmer area, with a maximum depth of 1.20 metres, is accessible via a fine gravel beach. A lawn with a beach volleyball court, table tennis and table football completes the recreational facilities. Sun loungers, parasols, picnic tables and spacious wooden decks offer families plenty of room to play, relax and enjoy their day.
By bike & train to the pool
Located directly on the Merano–Bolzano cycle route and next to Gargazon railway station, the natural swimming pool is easy to reach by bike and train. In addition to the paddling pool and beach area, facilities include a bistro, children’s playground, beach volleyball court and picnic tables, as well as sun loungers and parasols available for hire.
