LANA | MUSIC | FESTIVAL 2026 - Passion Prayer Hope

Choral music for the Passion season: the male choir brummnet moves listeners with powerful voices and music of prayer and hope.

With the program “Passion – Prayer – Hope”, the male choir brummnet presents an evening of choral music dedicated to the contemplative atmosphere of the Passion season.

The choir’s unusual name has an interesting origin. In the South Tyrolean dialect “brumm net” means “why not?” – the spontaneous reply given by the choir’s founder and conductor Clara Sattler when the group was first asked to perform. At the same time the name can also be read as “don’t grumble”, a humorous reminder to the singers to perform with full, resonant voices.

From the beginning, the ensemble placed a strong focus on sacred choral music. Over the past two decades the choir has enriched many church celebrations with musical contributions, including masses, Rorate services and Advent concerts. With purity of sound and expressive singing, the ensemble has created memorable moments for audiences.

The choir has also gained recognition beyond South Tyrol. At the Tyrol-wide choir evaluation festival it attracted attention in 2007 and again in 2016. In 2018 the ensemble travelled to Venice to participate in the International Claudio Monteverdi Choir Competition, where it was awarded first prize, third prize and a special prize for the best interpretation of a Monteverdi composition.

The choir’s musical journey is also reflected in its recordings: from the first CD “Advent isch a Leuchten” to the album “Miscela”, released in 2023.

Despite international competitions and concert tours – including the Swiss Alpine Choir Festival in Brig, Austria Cantat in Feldkirch and a concert tour through South Africa – the ensemble has never forgotten its roots. The first musical experiences took place where folk music naturally belongs: in inns, during friendly gatherings, family celebrations and meetings of musicians.

The male choir brummnet, founded and directed by Clara Sattler, is supported by Johann van der Sandt, who contributes his extensive musical expertise.

The concert program moves between passion, prayer and hope – three themes that choral music can express with particular depth and emotion.
