Bhutan, 2006. Modernization has finally arrived. Bhutan becomes the last country in the world to connect to the Internet and television, and now the biggest change of all is underway: the transition from absolute monarchy to democracy. To teach people how to vote, the authorities organize a mock election in the village of Ura, but the locals don’t seem convinced by the innovation, basing their choices more on family ties than on candidates’ programs, causing tensions within families when these are sidelined. After hearing the news on the radio, an elderly lama asks his assistant, Master Tashi, to procure two rifles before the next full moon, without giving further details.
