Face to face with the golden eagle | Family hike

Expert Gernot knows the life of golden eagles in Hinterpasseier/Alta Val Passiria like no other. With him, we get up close and personal with the golden eagles.

Golden eagles are solitary birds that mate for life. Every year between March and June, the female lays up to three eggs. She incubates them for around 45 days. During this time, the male provides her with food. The young birds make their first attempts at flight in late summer. Hiking guide Gernot has been observing golden eagles in Hinterpasseier/Alta Val Passiria for years. He knows where they breed and whether the brood was successful. With a little luck, we will see the golden eagle soaring above our heads.
