A town combining urban lifestyle with quaint rural charm

Located in the heart of the Val d’Adige/Etschtal Valley, the Alpine-Mediterranean town of Lana combines rural charm with urban comfort. Lana is the biggest and oldest apple-growing town in South Tyrol/Südtirol, and is an ideal starting point for discovering South Tyrol’s many hiking and cycling routes. Above Lana rises Mount Vigiljoch. Closed to public traffic but easily accessible by cableway, Mount Vigiljoch is highly popular among families, nature lovers and mountain bikers. The village offers a wide range of outdoor and indoor activities, as well as numerous cultural events. Lana is partly rural in character but also a vibrant town with many shopping opportunities and restaurants in the center.

    The hiking area on Mount Vigiljoch near Lana is at its most spectacular in winter. Ideal for a day in the outdoors, Mount Vigiljoch is closed to road traffic and can be reached in a matter of minutes by cable car.

    A number of hiking trails start directly from the cable car mountain station. In winter, Mount Vigiljoch is a picture-perfect landscape with snow-covered larch forests and thrilling sled-rides for family enjoyment.

    Snowshoeing

    A few minutes from Lana by cable car, Mount Vigiljoch has numerous snowshoe hiking trail to offer in a pristine environment closed to road traffic.

    One of the most popular snowshoeing routes is the easy hike from the cable car mountain station to the Bärenbadalm mountain hut, continuing along to the St. Vigilius Kirche church before winding back to the starting point.
