LANA | MUSIK | FESTIVAL 25 - Quintessenz

The Streicherakacemie Bozen was founded in 1987 by the South Tyrolean Music Association. The idea came from the ensemble's artistic director, violinist and professor at the Bolzano Conservatory, Georg Egger. The String Academy is mainly made up of South Tyrolean musicians who have a wealth of chamber music and orchestral experience in important ensembles at home and abroad and who pass on their experience to young musicians. The String Academy usually performs without a conductor. As some of the musicians are also members of the Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart, a close collaboration has developed with conductor Frieder Bernius. In addition to the ensemble's summer concerts, the Streicherakademie is also regularly invited to important festivals and concert series such as the Salzburg Mozart Week, the Gustav Mahler Weeks in Toblach and the Engadine Festival Weeks. The ensemble's broad repertoire ranges from Bach, Handel, Zelenka, Schubert-Mahler "Death and the Maiden" and Mendelssohn to Britten, Bartók, Stravinsky, Schönberg, Schnebel and Stuppner.
